"I am so thankful that my daughter is living at Alden Springs. She is always happy and looks great. She says she can do all of the things that she did at home, thanks to the staff being so supportive and nice. All of my worries are over. Thank you very much, Alden Springs."

"Aaron was born on November 16, 1983. In June 1984, Aaron was placed in the facility now known as Alden Village Health Facility for Children and Young Adults on Lake Street in Bloomingdale. When picking out a home for Aaron, my family and I researched many facilities and this is the one we agreed would encompass all that we were hoping for Aaron. Originally, we were told by the doctors that Aaron would be in a vegetative state and would not live past the age of five. Obviously, the doctors were wrong and I am happy to say Aaron, who was 15 pounds when he came to Alden in 1984, now looks like a linebacker! He really has prospered through the years.

Today, Aaron is an extremely happy person. He loves people and life. He can hear and see. He can communicate extensively with his talker and is very bright. He completed high school and now spends Monday through Friday at a day training vocational program.

Alden Village was the only home that Aaron knew until October 2006 when he moved to Alden Springs. I am happy to report he loves Alden Springs and all the wonderful staff and people here. In fact, he has been invited to employees’ weddings, their children’s basketball games and other events.

The staff’s dedication to the residents can also be seen in the fact that if Aaron has to spend time in the hospital – which luckily has not been recently – either a member of the staff comes personally to visit or they call me for an update. The staff even helps him get gifts for special occasions like Mother’s Day and Christmas.

I know that Aaron will never be 'normal,' but without Alden’s care and support through the years, I really don’t know if Aaron would be as happy and well-adjusted as he is today. I can honestly say that Alden has always treated Aaron like a member of their own family and I trust the staff in their care of him. They love Aaron and watch out for his best interests and well-being."

"Alden Springs provides many amenities such as daily activities inside and outside of the home. One such recent activity was a Halloween trip to a pumpkin patch. It was exciting to see the residents enjoying themselves. The team at Springs works together to ensure high standards and the delivery of quality care to our residents. We take pride in our work and the care we provide our residents. Alden Springs in Bloomingdale is a wonderful facility to work for and I look forward to working here for many years to come."

"One aspect of my job as Activity Director is to get our residents out into the community. As we go on outings, I have found it not only is fun and beneficial for our residents but also for members of our community. Whereas before we were strangers in local stores and movie theatres, now we are known, accepted and even helped by the staff at these establishments. I find that it makes everyone feel good."

"It has been a privilege for me to be involved in the planning and development of our newest intermediate care facility, Alden Springs. To see the facility transform from the ground up has been exciting. To see the facility turn into a warm and nurturing HOME for 16 special people has been extraordinary! Alden Springs will always hold a special place in my heart."
